Surveyors in Woody Point work on some of the smallest lots on the peninsula. The suburb covers only 1.7 square kilometres and held 4,548 residents at the 2021 census, which makes it one of the most densely settled parts of the City of Moreton Bay. The Crockatt Park Seawall Upgrade is a long-term project to protect the shoreline from erosion and severe weather, jointly funded by the Federal Government’s Disaster Ready Fund and City of Moreton Bay. A stepped concrete seawall is being built in sections between Woody Point Jetty and the Woody Point Boat Ramp, with around 2,000 tonnes of sand used to form a new beach in stage one.

The detail worth noting is the design life. One 33 metre section has been designed for a 100 year lifespan, with the completed beach scheduled to open in mid 2027. The shoreline moves, your title does not. Lots sized for a beach house. Unit and townhouse redevelopment reached Woody Point later than Redcliffe and Scarborough, arriving through the 2000s on blocks originally laid out for single cottages. That leaves very little room between buildings for retaining and drainage. A contour and detail survey gives the existing levels and features so the new work drains without pushing water next door.
