Rush Creek sits 4.9km south-east of Dayboro, 17.8km north-west of Strathpine and about 40km north-north-west of the Brisbane CBD, with Samsonvale across the water to the south and Whiteside down toward the dam. The Dam Work Shaping Rush Creek

The locality’s southern boundary is the North Pine River at the western end of Lake Samsonvale, which puts Rush Creek directly upstream of a drinking water storage. North Pine Dam was constructed in 1976 across the North Pine River, five kilometres upstream from Petrie. It is a gated dam within the SEQ Water Grid, storing drinking water for north Brisbane and Moreton Bay from a catchment of 348 square kilometres.

That storage is currently being worked on. Seqwater’s North Pine Dam Improvement Project involves more than $69 million of staged strengthening works, and a reduced full supply level was enacted in January 2025, lowering the lake by roughly two metres ahead of the main dam upgrade. So the waterline you see on an inspection today is not the full supply level. Rush Creek land surveyors take that into account rather than measuring to whatever edge the lake happens to sit at.

You are inside a drinking water catchment. That context shapes what a rural block can carry: where an on-site effluent disposal area sits, how stormwater leaves the property, and what erosion and sediment control a job needs. Where the title stops at the water. A southern boundary defined by a river feeding a storage is not the same as a fence line, and Seqwater land sits below much of it. A boundary survey establishes the corners and shows exactly how far your ownership runs toward the lake.

The view block is rarely the easy block. The best outlook over the lake and the ranges usually sits on the steepest part of a holding. A contour and detail survey tells you what that view really costs in cut, fill, retaining and driveway grade.
