UAV Drone Surveying in Ocean View

Surveyors in Ocean View are covering a lot of ground for very few houses. The locality spreads across 39.5 square kilometres and held 1,022 residents at the 2021 census, up from 817 a decade earlier. It sits 7km north of Dayboro and about 13km south-west of Caboolture, roughly 56km north-north-west of the Brisbane CBD, with Mount Mee up the range to the north and King Scrub below to the south. Brisbane-Woodford Road, known here as Mount Mee Road, runs through from the south-east.

Current Developments Shaping Ocean View

Growth here is slow and steady rather than dramatic. Queensland Places records that the D’Aguilar Range was selected for farm allotments in the 1870s, cleared first for timber and later worked for dairy, and that new residents have been drawn to rural residential acreage on Ocean View’s elevated land since the 1980s. That pattern is still running. City of Moreton Bay also lists Ocean View Estates Winery among the region’s notable features, which tells you something about how the land is used now.

The road is the other thing that changes. Transport and Main Roads has been resurfacing Brisbane-Woodford Road, following pavement stabilisation and resealing along a 37km stretch between Mount Mee and Whiteside, which is the route through here. So Ocean View land surveyors see a mix of rural boundary work, building setout and the occasional civil job on the corridor.

You are on the divide. Ocean View occupies a ridge between two river systems: the headwaters of the north and south branches of the Caboolture River, with the North Pine River headwaters starting just to the south. Water does not arrive here, it leaves. So the question is never flood level, it is what your runoff does to the next block down. A contour and detail survey gives you the grades for driveway drainage, dam siting and erosion control before anything gets cut.
