A stepped concrete seawall is being built in sections between Woody Point Jetty and the Woody Point Boat Ramp, with around 2,000 tonnes of sand used to form a new beach in stage one.
The detail worth noting is the design life. One 33 metre section has been designed for a 100 year lifespan, with the completed beach scheduled to open in mid 2027. Coastal work at that standard runs on precise survey from start to finish: existing levels and shoreline position before design, setout during construction, then as-constructed records. That leaves very little room between buildings for retaining and drainage. A contour and detail survey gives the existing levels and features so the new work drains without pushing water next door.
